Welcome to our garden blog. Cultivate to Plate brings garden cultivation and cooking together. We share information on gardening through our own garden blog updates, and follow the process from growing the seed or start up plant – to plating the dish with our harvests. We focus on container gardening to keep watering efficient (we are in zone 9b), and incorporate our backyard orchard into our landscaping.
Whatever we grow we eat, or preserve or dry for later in the off season when the garden isn’t producing.
The Shelton’s use their backyard to the fullest. Renee Shelton likes vegetable & herb gardening and edible landscaping, and John Shelton enjoys saving seeds from tropical fruits and watching them grow. Their individual projects: Renee is taking the Home Preservation Course offered by the University of Georgia eLC system, and John is working on transplanting jackfruits sprouted from seeds.
